I am George Kosinski, formerly a British Architect, raised in the English Lake District where I practiced from 1978 to 1991, before embarking on a fulltime career as a watercolour artist based in Jerusalem from 1991 – 2000. A sojourner at heart, I traveled throughout Israel, Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Sinai & Egypt, communicating effectively through picture language, easily understood across borders. This is a journey in watercolours - unpredictable, yet assured.
From 2002 until 2011, I have lived in the Appalachian mountains, contrasting with the desert places due to an abundance of rainwater, which profoundly influenced the colours of my pallete. Presently, I am living on the coast in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, enjoying Brookgreen Gardens and remnants of old plantations rich in wildlife. Steeped in history, there is a pull-back to the old country while looking at historic buildings. Resisting earthly calls to settle down, I favour venturing to unexplored horizons ahead. So, I will keep my brushes at the ready, instead!
About 120 watercolours have been selected for this website, from a collection of 800 completed over the last 21 years. Explore the various pages and savour remnants, rich in detail, of a very beautiful world. Painting provides us with a means to see and letting others share in the secrets.
Motivated by observing God's gracious life and love towards all creation, across all separating boundaries, I hope to continue visiting, sojourning and seeing, mindful of these words of Jesus;
"The wind blows wherever it wishes; you hear the sound it makes.
but you do not know where it comes from or where it is going.
It is like that with everyone who is born of the Spirit."
